Audio Visual Technician

The Administrative Office of the Courts, in Nashville, is seeking a qualified person for the position Audio Visual Technician within the Court Services Division. Under the general supervision of the Court Services Director, this position is responsible for providing audiovisual support for Court System events and functions such as conferences, meetings, presentations, and special court hearings. This position will also create visual graphics for use on the website or social media and will create and edit podcasts. Overall, the successful applicant will be responsible to:

  • Set-up, install and operate equipment such as microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, AV recording equipment, sound and mixing boards;

  • Film, edit, and caption productions as necessary for posting on Court System website or for distribution;

  • Monitor video and sound feeds to ensure best quality;

  • Work cooperatively with event coordinators in pre-event planning to ensure meeting room layout produces the required results for the event and follow through with setting meeting rooms up according to the pre-determined layout;

  • Test and resolve equipment and presentation issues prior to the actual event;

  • Provide support for the video conferencing function at all Court sites; and

  • Transport, assemble, maintain, and make minor repairs to equipment used in multimedia productions.

  • Provide administrative and creative assistance to the Court Services Division and AOC as needed and requested.

Applicants must have extensive knowledge of audio/visual equipment, video conferencing, personal computers, and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, and PowerPoint with embedded videos and sound. Experience with Mediasite recorders is a plus.

Applicants must understand technology, business and office procedures and have the ability to adhere to policies and procedures, and good customer relations; must be computer literate; must be motivated and flexible with a positive attitude. The applicant must be a self-starter and able to work with multiple groups as well as individually in an office environment. The successful applicant will be exposed to confidential information and must be able to understand the importance of being discrete. Applicants must be able to sit and stand for long periods and must have good hearing and eyesight; must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift or move more than 100 pounds. Extensive overnight travel within the State of Tennessee is required. Must have a valid Tennessee’ driver’s license and be able to safely drive a box truck.   

The successful applicant must have education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school and an associate’s degree in audiovisual technology or related field and experience equivalent to three years of increasingly responsible full-time audio/visual support preferably in conference settings. Education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
