Deputy Assistant Budget/Fiscal Director

The Administrative Office of the Courts is seeking a Deputy Assistant Budget/Fiscal Director.  This position works under the direction of the Fiscal Services Director in the Finance Division.  This position is responsible for professional supervisory accounting work of considerable difficulty; and performs the related work as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Supervises, trains, and provides leadership to the accounting staff, overseeing general accounting transactions in accordance with sound internal control procedures and generally accepted accounting principles.
  2. Assists in budget preparation, on-going budget analysis and monitoring to ensure revenues are properly collected and departmental accounts close properly at fiscal year-end.
  3. Assists in the oversight of ACAP (AOC claims and payment) system used to process payments to attorneys, experts, and court interpreters providing representation to indigent persons.
  4. Provide strong leadership and serve as subject matter expert on budget/fiscal matters for internal and external business partners.
  5. Assists and/or directs the year-end closing process and assists in preparing any needed financial reports.
  6. Fosters and maintain strong working relationships with the Department of Finance & Administration and other state agencies.
  7. Resolves interpersonal conflicts between assigned subordinates or work teams to enhance teambuilding and generate a positive working environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience:  Graduation from an accredited college or university with bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, economics, finance or related field.  Must also have experience equivalent to five or more years of full-time increasingly responsible professional accounting or auditing work.  Experience with the State’s accounting system, and Edison are preferred.
