Legal Assistant – Investigations

The Board of Professional Responsibility has an opening for a Legal Assistant who will provide support in the Investigations Section of the Office of Disciplinary Counsel.  This position is located in Brentwood and is under the supervision of the Deputy Chief Disciplinary Counsel.

Under the supervision of the Deputy Chief Disciplinary Counsel, the Legal Assistant will be responsible for assisting two (2) investigative attorneys.  The Legal Assistant will be responsible for working independently to assist attorneys with keeping all files current; creating and maintaining effective filing and tracking systems; maintaining databases as assigned; maintaining various lists; verifying data entry and producing reports as requested; performing various word processing duties using MicroSoft Word, MicroSoft Outlook, and other software; performing a variety of administrative duties involving information compilation, monitoring, routine research, liaison work, and providing public information; assisting with filing and scanning tasks as assigned; and other duties as assigned. 

Education and/or Experience:  Graduation from an accredited high school and at least five (5) years’ experience as a full-time secretary or administrative assistant or educational equivalent such as Paralegal Certification, Associate’s degree in Paralegal or Legal Assistant Studies, or current Certified Professional Secretary designation.  Experience in a legal office is preferred.

Skills and Ability:  The Legal Assistant should be proficient in computer and word processing skills, including Microsoft Office and Word; have a knowledge of administrative principles, legal practices and terminology, and office practices and procedures; and have the ability to maintain confidences due to the highly confidential nature of the work of the Board.
