Commission Accepting Applications for Court of Criminal Appeals Vacancy

The Governor’s Commission for Judicial Appointments is now accepting applications for the upcoming Court of Criminal Appeals vacancy. The Honorable Jeffrey S. Bivins has been appointed to the Tennessee Supreme Court, thereby creating a vacancy effective July 16, 2014.

Any interested applicant must be an attorney licensed in Tennessee who is at least 30 years of age, a resident of the state for five years, and must reside in the Middle Tennessee Grand Division.

Applicants must complete the designated application, which is available here, and submit it to the Administrative Office of the Courts by noon CDT on Monday, June 2, 2014.

The Governor’s Commission for Judicial Appointments will interview all qualified applicants on June 10 in Nashville at a location to be announced. The meeting will include a public hearing at 9 a.m., during which members of the public may express their opinions about the applicants. The interview, public hearing and deliberation process will be open to the public.
