Access to Justice Champion Lewis Receives Inaugural Justice Holder Award

Memphis Attorney George T. "Buck" Lewis will receive the first-ever Justice Janice M. Holder Award, which recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the cause of expanding access to civil legal service.

The Holder Award honors an individual who has advanced the quality of justice statewide by ensuring that the legal system is open and available to all. Lewis is a member of the Tennessee Supreme Court's Access to Justice Commission and served as chairperson from 2012 until earlier this year.

Lewis is a shareholder with Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC. He was president of the Tennessee Bar Association 2008-2009.

Justice Holder is retiring September 1, 2014, after nearly 18 years on the Court. She is the Court's liaison to the Access to Justice Commission.
