The Governor’s Council for Judicial Appointments is again accepting applications for a criminal court judge vacancy in the 11th Judicial District – Hamilton County. The vacancy was created by the retirement of Judge Rebecca J. Stern effective June 1.
Pursuant to an executive order signed by Gov. Bill Haslam last fall, the governor can request the Council submit a second panel of three nominees for his consideration. The Council previously met and submitted three names to Gov. Haslam on April 9.
Any interested applicant whose name was not already submitted to the governor must be a licensed attorney who is at least 30 years of age, a resident of the state for five years, and a resident of the 11th Judicial District. Applicants must complete the designated application, which is available here and submit it to the Administrative Office of the Courts by noon EDT on Monday, July 6, 2015.
The Governor’s Council for Judicial Appointments will interview all qualified applicants in the district at a time to be announced. The meeting will include a public hearing, during which members of the public may express any objections to any applicant. The interview and public hearing will be open to the public.
