Gov. Haslam Swears in Supreme Court Justice Roger Page

More than 1,000 people packed the house in Mifflin, Tennessee Monday, April 25 for Justice Roger A. Page’s ceremonial swearing-in with Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam.

The overflowing crowd in the small rural town heard remarks from the governor, Justice Page, as well as several other judges and local officials.

Justice Page reflected on his upbringing in Chester County and mentioned how he is the first justice from rural West Tennessee in about 20 years. He plans to keep his office in the Jackson Supreme Court Building, the same office he used when he was a Court of Criminal Appeals judge.

Justice Page was appointed by Governor Haslam on January 7 and confirmed in a unanimous vote by the Tennessee General Assembly on February 22.

Justice Page resides in Medina. He is married to Chancellor Carol McCoy and has two sons and three grandchildren. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy and the University of Memphis College of Law. Prior to being elected to the circuit court bench, he was a law clerk, an attorney in private practice, and an assistant attorney general.  He served as a 26th Judicial District Circuit Court judge from 1998-2011, and served on the Court of Criminal Appeals from 2011 until his confirmation to the Tennessee Supreme Court in February.
