WHO MAY ATTEND CLASSES

The following classes are available to Tennessee judiciary employees such as Tennessee Appellate & Trial Judges and their staff; and to the Administrative Office of the Courts staff.

AVAILABLE CLASSES

 

GroupWise

Learn how to use not only the email functions but how to organize and customize your emails. This class will focus on the mailbox, calendar, and address book elements of the program. Participants will perform several types of emails, set appointments and view setting options, and create Address book contacts throughout the class.

Class times are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

 

Beginning Word

This session is designed to get the new word processing user "up and running" by introducing basic tasks such as starting up the program, saving, opening, and printing files, taking advantage of the toolbar, using special movement and editing keys, and using the Speller and Thesaurus. The following formatting features will also be introduced:  setting margins; changing text alignment, font and text attributes, line spacing, paper size; using indents; and inserting page numbers and page breaks.  In addition, copying, cutting, and pasting will be introduced along with special characters (e.g. § symbol).  Prerequisite:  Basic knowledge of Windows & familiarity with keyboard.  Some typing involved.

Class times are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

 

Intermediate/Advanced Word Classes

Word has an Intermediate class that focuses on such helpful tools such as Mail Merge, Styles, and Section formatting.  In addition, Advanced classes also delve into such skills as macros and large document formatting. Specific outlines are available upon request.
There are two upper-level Word classes available.  These classes focus on commonly used features such as Mail Merge, Templates, and Comparing documents.

Class times are from 9:00 a.m.to 3:00 p.m.

 

Microsoft Excel

Three levels of Excel will give users a good foundation in navigation, formulas and referencing in Excel as well as learning how to format, create charts, sorting, filtering and many other features in Excel. Outlines to each level are available on request.

Class times 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Excel Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced classes are available.

 

PowerPoint

PowerPoint is Microsoft Office's presentation software which allows for the creation and display of multimedia presentations.  Class participants will learn how to create a presentation, and how to add creative flair to the presentation such as animation of text and slide to slide transitions.  In addition printing for handouts and presentation showcase concepts will be addressed.

When a minimum of four participants are interested in attending a particular class, you will be contacted for scheduling.

If, at any time, you realize you are unable to attend a scheduled class, please notify us as soon as possible. Approximately one week before the class, you will receive a final confirmation notification. 

Classes will be held in the 5th Floor Training Room of the Nashville City Center, at the AOC. Please obtain prior approval before making overnight accommodations and/or parking arrangements.
