Planning for Permanency in Juvenile Court

Event Description

In this session, host Carrie Mason will describe the process the juvenile court follows in planning for the permanency of a child or youth in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services by virtue of dependency and neglect. Carrie will discuss the process in which the permanency plan for the child and family is created and ratified by the court, the periodic review of the child’s progress toward permanency and the permanency hearing in juvenile court. Carrie will talk about required timelines required for the permanency planning process as well as criteria relevant to each required hearing type. Carrie will also address termination of parental rights petitions, which may be filed at any point during the permanency planning process and provide an overview of the criteria relevant in that hearing type along with the process for appeal.

This session is approved for 1 general CLE hour.
