ADMISSIONS MANAGER

The Board of Law Examiners is seeking a qualified person (“Candidate”) for the position of ADMISSIONS MANAGER. The successful applicant will

  1. Develop investigatory processes to identify potential character and fitness issues.
  2. Manage the character and fitness review process, including working with staff analyst and Court-appointed interviewers, for all types of admission applications.
  3. Conduct legal research, as directed by the Executive Director or Board, regarding issues pertaining to licensing and admission of attorneys.
  4. Prepare files for hearings before the Board, including bench memos or such other materials as the Board requires.
  5. Assist with the administration of the bar examination.
  6. Assist with Financial Reports.
  7. Assist the Executive Director when needed to give presentations to law school students, Deans, or other groups.
  8. Recommend Board Policies and revisions to rules related to admission.  
  9. Work independently and as a member of a team.

Candidates must have experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Professional. The successful Candidate must be comfortable with online records management systems and navigating computer programs. Candidates must have experience in compiling and analyzing data; proofreading data files and documents is important. The successful Candidate will have good verbal and written communication skills. The Candidate should be able to work independently and in a team environment, and be accurate, detail-oriented, and discreet as the successful candidate will work with confidential materials.

If you are in law school or seeking a law license, you are ineligible to work at the Board of Law Examiners. Please do not apply for this position. Although the Board of Law Examiners is an agency of the Supreme Court, this position is analytical in nature.

Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate will have education equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and at least five years of experience in the practice of law or service as a law clerk.  Admission to practice law in Tennessee is preferred and a Juris Doctorate Degree is required.

This position requires a criminal background check. Therefore, you will be required to provide information about your criminal history in order to be considered for this position.
