Assistant General Counsel - Nashville

The Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) is seeking a qualified person for the position of Assistant General Counsel. The position will report to the General Counsel.

A person in this position will perform responsible administrative and professional legal work. The position will conduct legal research, provide legal and procedural advice, prepare judicial publications, reports and manuals, and participate as legal staff support for task forces, commissions, and committees. In addition, the position may include the following duties: review, revise and/or prepare contracts, leases, and other legal agreements; review proposed legislation to determine fiscal impact to Tennessee Court System; and perform other duties as needed.

The office is located in Nashville and includes the opportunity to work remotely.

Qualifications/Experience: The successful applicant must be an attorney licensed in Tennessee with three (3) years of legal experience. Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; attention to detail and accuracy; and time management and organizational skills are required. Experience in civil law, transactional work, and/or federal/state/local government preferred. Knowledge of the Tennessee Court System and an understanding of the Tennessee legislative process are also preferred.
