Associate Director Commission on Continuing Legal Education

The Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education is seeking applicants for the position of Associate Director. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Associate Director is responsible for administrative, managerial, and supervisory work of moderate difficulty. The Associate Director follows organizational policies and procedures and must carry out the agency's focus on reliability, attorney compliance, and customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Track and monitor attorney CLE attendance and compliance under Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 21 using the Commission's tracking system.
  2. Analyze complex situations and offer alternative solutions.
  3. Offer superior customer service.
  4. Provide day-to-day supervision and management of Commission staff and resources, employing established operating procedures.
  5. Maintain agency database of attorney records, reports, and other files.
  6. Work with individual attorneys to establish or re-establish compliance, including working with other agencies of the Court.
  7. Draft rules and other legal documents.
  8. Assist the Executive Director as needed with other projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience:

  • Law degree and licensed Tennessee attorney for a minimum five years.
  • Minimum of five years of work experience.
  • Law firm or regulatory experience a plus.

Knowledge:

  • Experience with database use and management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
  • Some financial and organizational management, including budgets and financial projections.

Skills and Ability:

  • Must exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish sound working relationships with colleagues and clients at a variety of levels of expertise and knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to manage short-term and long-term projects.
  • Well organized, detail, and deadline oriented.

This position requires a criminal background check. Candidates will be required to provide information about their criminal history to be considered for this position.
