Tennessee Supreme Court to Conduct Second Interviews of Six Attorney General Candidates

Six applicants for the Tennessee Attorney General and Reporter position will be moving on to a second round of interviews before the Tennessee Supreme Court.

The Court spent more than five hours Monday conducting a public hearing and interviews of the eight attorneys who applied for the job. The Court will conduct personal interviews on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, with these six applicants:

Eugene N. Bulso, Jr., Brentwood

Robert E. Cooper, Jr., Nashville

Mark A. Fulks, Johnson City

James Douglas Overbey, Maryville

Herbert H. Slatery, III, Nashville

William E. Young, Brentwood

“This is an impressive group of applicants and an important decision. Therefore, we need to do further interviews of six of the applicants,” said Chief Justice Sharon G. Lee.

The Court will also seek further background information from the TBI. The Court expects to make a decision after all the information is available and carefully considered, likely sometime in the next two weeks.
