Nashville, Tenn. – Seven attorneys have applied to fill the Criminal Court vacancy in the 30th Judicial District, which serves Shelby County. The vacancy was created by the appointment of Criminal Court Judge John T. Fowlkes, Jr. as U.S. District Court Judge for Western Tennessee.
The Judicial Nominating Commission will hold a public meeting to interview the following candidates:

The public hearing will be held on Friday, Aug. 24 at 9 a.m., CDT. at the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, The University of Memphis, Historic Courtroom, 1 North Front Street, Memphis. During the public hearing, attorneys and members of the public may express their approval or objections to the candidates.
Following the public hearing, the commission will interview each applicant before recommending three candidates to the governor. Members of the public are invited to attend both the public hearing and the interviews.
