The Judicial Nominating Commission is now accepting applications for the judicial vacancy in the 1st Judicial District Chancery Court (Carter, Johnson, Unicoi and Washingtoncounties). The vacancy is being created by the retirement of Chancellor G. Richard Johnson, effective June 30.
Any interested applicant must be a licensed attorney who is at least 30 years of age, a resident of the state for five years, and a resident of the 1st Judicial District for at least one year. Applicants must complete the designated application, which is available at www.tncourts.gov, and submit it to the Administrative Office of the Courts by Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at noon CST.
The Judicial Nominating Commission will interview all qualified applicants Friday, June 14 at the DoubleTree Hotel, 211 Mockingbird Lane, Johnson City, 37604. The meeting will include a public hearing starting at 9 a.m. where members of the public may express their opinions about the applicants. The interview, public hearing and deliberation process will be open to the public.
