The Governor’s Council for Judicial Appointments is now accepting applications for the Criminal Court judge vacancy in the 9th Judicial District – Loudon, Meigs, Morgan, and Roane counties. The impending vacancy has been created by the announcement by Judge E. Eugene Eblen that he is retiring effective December 31, 2015.
Any interested applicant must be a licensed attorney who is at least 30 years of age, a resident of the state for five years, and a resident of the 9th Judicial District. Any attorney interested in being considered for the vacancy must complete the designated application, which is available here and submit it to the Administrative Office of the Courts by noon EDT on Tuesday, September 1, 2015.
The Governor’s Council for Judicial Appointments will interview all qualified applicants in the district on September 25 at 9 a.m. EDT at a place to be announced soon. The meeting will include a public hearing, during which members of the public may express any objections to any applicant. The interview and public hearing will be open to the public.
