Council Announces Meeting Dates For Court of Appeals Interviews

The Governor’s Council for Judicial Appointments has selected February 25 and February 26 as the meeting dates to interview the 16 candidates who have applied for the Court of Appeals opening in the Eastern Division. The meetings will begin at 10 a.m. EST on February 25 and 8:30 a.m. EST on February 26. The meetings will be held at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville’s Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy in the Toyota Auditorium (Room 103).

Because of the large number of candidates, the applicants will be split between the two days and will give their opening statements and be interviewed on their assigned day. Candidates assigned to Tuesday, February 25 are: William T. Ailor, Jerri S. Bryant, Dail Robert Cantrell, Joseph Christopher Clem, Timothy Wade Conner, Kristi M. Davis, Melanie E. Davis, Pamela A. Fleenor, Samantha A. Lunn, and William Thomas McFarland. Candidates assigned to Wednesday, February 26 include: Summer H. McMillan, E. Jerome Melson, Edward H. Trent, Joshua R. Walker, Jeffrey M. Ward, and Thomas J. Wright.

The meetings will include a public hearing, during which members of the community may express any objections to any of the applicants. The interviews, which will directly follow the public hearing, are also open to the public.

The vacancy on the Court of Appeals was created by the retirement of the Honorable Charles D. Susano, Jr.
