This session will discuss the Reasonable and Prudent Parenting Standard, a mandate found in the Supporting Normalcy for Children in Foster Care provision of The Sex Trafficking and Strengthening Families Act of 2014. The Reasonable and Prudent Parenting Standard, which has been adopted into Tennessee policy and practice, requires caregivers use a “reasonable and prudent parent standard” when determining whether to allow a child in foster care to participate in extracurricular, enrichment, cultural, and social activities. Attendees will learn about the standard and how to advocate for their minor clients in foster care, so that these youth might develop life skills that will guide their development. This session has been approved for 1 general CLE hour. |
