Tennessee Bright Futures: Supporting Transition Age Youth

Event Description

This training provides an overview of representing transition-age youth in Tennessee foster care, with emphasis on statutory duties, court oversight, and advocacy obligations under Tenn. Sup. Ct. Rule 40 and Title 37. Participants learn the structure, eligibility, and recent changes to Independent Living and Extension of Foster Care programs (now Bright Futures), required Independent Living and Transition Plan components and timelines for youth ages 14–21, and the essential documents youth must receive at discharge. The training equips practitioners to apply state and federal law to ensure timely planning, service access, and meaningful judicial review for youth preparing to exit foster care.

This training is approved for 1.5 general CLE hours.
