Auditor 1 – Indigent Services Team

The Administrative Office of the Courts is seeking to hire an Auditor 1 position.  This position reports to the Deputy Director. In coordination with and oversight of the Interim Executive Director of the Office of the Appointed Counsel Commission (“ACC”), this position is responsible for auditing claims in accordance with Tennessee Supreme Court Rules. This includes reviewing appointment orders for required information, auditing claims and expenses for compliance with the rules. This position is responsible for auditing of expert and investigator claims against pre-approved orders and working closely with the Interim Executive Director of the ACC to process complex claims.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  
1.    Identifies, analyzes, and resolves billing issues with submitted claims;
2.    Communicates with stakeholders, both verbally and in writing, to resolve billing issues. Discretion is necessary as some communication may be difficult or sensitive;
3.    Must work collaboratively with the Interim Executive Director of the ACC to interpret Tennessee Supreme Court Rules in order to ensure compliance with rule;
4.    Audits claims submitted for payment for compliance with Tennessee Supreme Court Rules in order to process for payment; and
5.    Additional, related duties assigned by Interim Executive Director of the ACC and Deputy Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:  
Education and/or Experience:  Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school and experience equivalent to three years of full-time increasingly responsible clerical accounting or auditing work. Advanced education may be substituted for the required experience up to a maximum of a three-year substitution for a bachelor’s degree including thirty-six quarter hours of accounting.
Skills and Abilities:
•    Motivated and proactive individual with a strong work ethic;
•    Ability to communicate clearly and accurately both orally and in writing;
•    Prioritize according to deadlines and transmit accurate information; and
•    Capable of managing a high volume, repetitive workflow.
