TENNESSEE BOARD OF LAW EXAMINERS ADMISSIONS ANALYST

The Board of Law Examiners is seeking a qualified person (“Candidate”) for the position of
Admissions Analyst. The Admissions Analyst reviews applications for admission to practice
law for completeness in accordance with specific rule-based requirements and analyzes the
application and background investigation to ensure that applicants meet the eligibility
requirements and character and fitness standard for admission. The Admissions Analyst
assists with examination administration, staffing the exam location as required, performs
some financial duties, and is assigned other duties as needed to complete the mission of the
office. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to walk, stand, and sit
for prolonged periods of time in the performance of daily duties and occasionally to lift, carry,
push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight. The work of an Admissions Analyst
requires sound judgment, skill in applying the prevailing legal standards, a working style
characterized by highly ethical practices, and a commitment to inclusive-excellence,
openness, flexibility, integrity, kindness and compassion.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Organize and maintain a subset of applications for admission to practice law in
Tennessee.
2. Analyze new applications for completeness and compliance with rules and policy.
3. Review and analyze licensure applications for misleading, discrepant, or missing
information; identify need for additional and appropriate follow-up from applicant or
third parties..
4. Communicate with applicants regarding application requirements; effective oral and
written communication skills are a significant requirement and demand of this
position.
5. Work independently and as a member of a team.
6. Be accurate and detail-oriented, particularly in a high volume, deadline-driven work
environment.
7. Participate in the administration of the bar exam, which may include some in-state,
overnight travel.
8. Be discreet and maintain confidences due to the highly confidential nature of the work
of the Board.
9. Operate within a virtual office environment with online applications and filings.
10. Exhibit significant workload management skills and experience managing demanding
and competing deadlines.


Candidates must have experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook,
and Adobe PDF. The successful Candidate must be comfortable with online records
management systems and navigating computer programs. Candidates must have experience
in compiling and analyzing data; proofreading data files and documentation is important.


The successful Candidate will have good communication and customer service skills as the
position has frequent contact with the public, the Board, members of the Judiciary and other 
legal professionals. The Candidate should be able to work independently and in a team environment. 

The office is located in Nashville. Work is in-person during the training period of
at least 6 months, then hybrid with limited opportunity to work from home. The noise level
in the work environment is usually moderate and is subject to many interruptions. The
Candidate may be called on to handle emergency or crisis situations, multiple calls and
inquiries simultaneously, and may occasionally handle absentee replacement on short notice.


Minimum Qualifications:
A high school diploma and four years of increasingly responsible administrative experience
and/or office administration experience. Education equivalent to graduation from an
accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and one year of administrative, office
management or process management experience may substitute for the required experience.
Prior work experience in investigations, probation, or as a paralegal is preferred.

is an agency of the Supreme Court, this position is administrative and does not include work
related specifically to the court system or its programs.
