In this session, the speaker will discuss the initiation, adjudication, and disposition of a dependency and neglect case in Tennessee juvenile court according to Tennessee statute and the Tennessee Rules of Juvenile Practice and Procedure. Hearing timelines, required judicial considerations, determinations, and the legal standard relevant to each hearing type will be explained. The session will address the appeal rights of the parties, as well as required appointment of attorneys to represent the parent and child under Supreme Court Rule 13 and Rule 40. Throughout the session, the speaker will address important considerations relevant to the bench and the bar in these hearing types.
CLE: This course has been approved for 1.25 general hours.
