Presenter: Carrie Mason, Ph.D.
Tennessee juvenile court judges are required by federal and state law to ensure that the well-being of youth in care are adequately addressed. For youth in care, well-being encompasses education and progress toward graduation. Unfortunately, youth in care have lower rates on time graduation rate than their peers across Tennessee.
This training will provide juvenile court practitioners information needed in order to advocate for the educational attainment of youth in foster care in court and in school settings. In this training, attendees will learn about Tennessee diploma option and graduation requirements, as provided by Tennessee policy. Attendees will be provided information and resources so that they will feel equipped to read a high school transcript and address issues in the path to on-time graduation.
