This session will focus on the ethical challenges that juvenile court attorneys must navigate in child welfare removals into foster care. With a focus on the professional responsibility to be both competent and diligent, the session will provide information on the impact of removal from the perspective of their clients and provide a focus on the legal requirements related to removals into foster care under federal and state law. Against this backdrop, the presenter will discuss the importance of and strategies for effective communication with parent-clients and child clients, while navigating diminished capacity among minor clients or clients with disabilities.
