The Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) has named Samantha Fisher as communications director. In this role, Fisher will serve as spokesperson for the Supreme Court of Tennessee and the AOC. In addition, she will provide communications support to AOC initiatives focused on improving public education and understanding of the judicial branch and its essential role in a democratic society.
“Samantha Fisher is a seasoned professional, smart and experienced,” said Chief Justice Holly Kirby. “She’s well-equipped to lead the communications team for Tennessee’s court system. We’re thrilled to have her fresh perspective in this new role.”
Previously, Fisher served as communications director for the Office of the Tennessee Attorney General and Reporter where she led and coordinated messaging on the $26 Billion Opioid Distributor’s settlement to national media outlets. She also produced original content through a legal matters podcast, Making the Case.
Most recently, she provided strategic and crisis communications counsel to leaders of national health care systems.
“Samantha is a trusted communications strategist in both state government and the private sector where she has guided organizations through complex and sensitive matters,” said AOC Director Michelle Long. “Her unique combination of high-level media and government communications experience will be a great asset to our team. We are excited for her to get started.”
During her media career, Fisher presented to more than 800 affiliate stations as a national correspondent with CNN. There, she was a member of the team honored with a Peabody Award for Coverage of the 2008 Presidential Primary Campaign and Debates. She has also led story development and direction as an Emmy Award winning local news anchor with WKRN-TV in Nashville, KSL-TV in Salt Lake City, and WRDW-TV in Augusta, Georgia.
“I look forward to continuing to serve the judiciary in this important role alongside a dynamic team focused on providing efficient and effective administration of justice in our court system,” said Fisher.
Fisher holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Georgia where she was a full tuition Hope Academic Scholar. She has served on boards for the YMCA and the Ronald McDonald House in Nashville. She is married with two daughters.
