Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam will visit Hawkins County this week to perform the formal investiture ceremony for Circuit Court Judge Mike Faulk and Chancellor Douglas T. Jenkins.
The ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. EDT Wednesday, August 14 at Church Hill Middle School, 211 Oak St., Church Hill.
Both judges were appointed by Haslam earlier this year – Faulk on June 27 and Jenkins on July 10. They serve in the Third Judicial district, which comprises Greene, Hamblen, Hancock and Hawkins counties.
Judge Jenkins, 45, had practiced in the Law Office of Douglas T. Jenkins in Rogersville since 1997. He worked in the Law Offices of Terry, Terry & Stapleton in Morristown from 1995-1997. The vacancy was created by the appointment of Chancellor Thomas R. Frierson to the Tennessee Court of Appeals earlier this year.
Faulk, 59, had worked in The Faulk Law Office in Church Hill since 1982. He served as a Tennessee state senator representing Claiborne, Grainger, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson and Union counties in the 106th and 107th Tennessee General Assemblies. While serving as a state senator, he was a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, among other duties. He replaced Judge Kindall T. Lawson, who retired effective June 1.
There will be a reception following the ceremony, which is free and open to the public.
