Tennessee Attorney General senior counsel Rachel Harmon will join the Administrative Office of the Courts next month as general counsel for the judiciary.
Ms. Harmon comes to the AOC after nine years with the state Attorney General’s office, where she served in the criminal appellate division and the civil litigation and state services division.
“Rachel’s broad range of experience and her familiarity with Tennessee’s Court system will serve the judiciary well and we are excited to have her join the AOC in this leadership role,” Deborah Taylor Tate, director of the AOC, said.
As general counsel, Ms. Harmon will head the legal division, oversee administrative functions of the AOC, as well as support trial and appellate judges across the state.
“While working at the Attorney General’s Office, it has been my pleasure to represent the legal interests of the judiciary. With the help of the capable AOC attorneys and staff, I look forward to working more closely with the judiciary as an internal resource and advisor. I am delighted to be joining the AOC and appreciate the opportunity to work with the judiciary in this expanded leadership role," Ms. Harmon said.
Prior to joining the AG’s office, Ms. Harmon was an associate for two years at Puryear, Newman & Morton in Franklin. She is a graduate of University of South Carolina and Florida Coastal School of Law. She and her husband, Michael, live in Nashville and have two young daughters.
