The Judicial Nominating Commission meeting originally scheduled for Friday, January 18 in Tazewell, TN has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 7 at Woodlake Lodge in Tazewell.
The public hearing will begin at 1 pm., followed by interviews of the six candidates for the Chancery Court vacancy in the 8th Judicial District, which serves Campbell, Claiborne, Fentress, Scott and Union counties. More information about the candidates can be found here.
The Judicial Nominating Commission also will be meeting Friday, February 8 in Johnson City for a public hearing and interviews of the eight candidates for the 1st Judicial District Criminal Court vacancy.
The public hearing will be held at 9 a.m. EST, Friday February 8, 2013 at the DoubleTree in Johnson City, 211 Mockingbird Lane, 37604. During the public hearing, attorneys and members of the public may express their approval of or objections to the candidates.
Following the public hearing, the commission will interview each applicant before recommending three candidates to the governor. Members of the public are invited to attend both the public hearing and the interviews.
