The judiciary is among the many attorneys, law students and others who are mourning the death of Donald Paine this week.
Paine, a founding member of Paine, Tarwaters and Bickers was a prolific speaker, author and instructor and was looked to by many for guidance on Tennessee law.
“No judge, no attorney, no law professor has done more to advance the profession than our dear friend Don Paine,” Chief Justice Gary Wade told the Knoxville News Sentinel. “He received every honor, award and recognition possible but still maintained a humility that would serve as an example to us all. ... He acted justly at all times, loved the law, and walked humbly.”
