Supreme Court Denies Petition to Amend Attorney Advertising Rules

The Tennessee Supreme Court has denied a petition seeking to amend the Rules of Professional Conduct relating to attorney advertising.

The Tennessee Association for Justice filed the petition in May of 2012 requesting changes to Supreme Court Rule 8 Sections 7.1 and 7.2

In its Order, the Court stated “we commend the petitioners for the time and study devoted to this important issue. After careful consideration of the petitions, briefs, and the significant number of public comments submitted on the proposed amendments, we have determined that the continued enforcement of the existing rules is preferable to any of the changes sought by the petitioners.”

You can find the full text of the Order here. The initial petition is available here.
