Michelle Consiglio-Young has been named legislative liaison and assistant general counsel for the Tennessee Administrative Office of the Courts. In this role, she will be drafting and tracking legislation for the judiciary, following other proposed legislation, assisting members of the General Assembly with information about Tennessee courts, informing members of the judiciary about legislative initiatives and proposed legislation, preparing fiscal notes, and attending legislative committee meetings on behalf of the judiciary.
In the legislative off-season, she will assist with in-house legal matters such as providing legal and procedural advice, preparing judicial publications, reports and manuals as well as participating as legal staff support for task forces, commissions, and committees.
Consiglio-Young most recently worked in the criminal justice division of the Tennessee Attorney General’s office. Prior to that, she clerked for Court of Criminal Appeals Judge Robert W. Wedemeyer. In addition, during law school, Consiglio-Young externed at various times for the United States Attorney's Office, the Tennessee Supreme Court, the United States Department of Justice, and the Tennessee Attorney General's Office. Before attending law school, Consiglio-Young was a Senate Judiciary Committee research analyst under then-chair Sen. Mae Beavers.
Consiglio-Young, of Murfreesboro, earned a JD from the University of Tennessee College of Law, Magna Cum Laude and earned her BA, majoring in international relations, from Boston University, Summa Cum Laude. She and her husband have a seven-month old son.
