Supreme Court Justice Encourages Female Minority Students to Consider Law Careers

Tennessee Supreme Court Justice Sharon G. Lee joined a group of attorneys and law students  Saturday to talk to Knoxville area female minority students about pursuing legal careers. The National Association of Women Judges (NAWJ) partnered with the YWCA of Knoxville to host this event.

Twenty female minority students from Knoxville-area high schools were chosen to participate in the Color of Justice program, which featured panel discussions about choosing law as a career and how judges and lawyers make a difference. The event also included a luncheon where the students were able to interact with the panelists and ask them questions.

The program included the following panelists: Supreme Court Justice Sharon G. Lee; Tasha Blakney, attorney at Eldridge & Blakney; Ta Kisha Fitzgerald, Assistant District Attorney; LaKenya Middlebrook, attorney and director of the YWCA Phyllis Wheatley Center; Jhasta Moore, attorney at The Bosch Law Firm; Linda Shea of Lexis Nexis and four students from the University of Tennessee College of Law.

The program was made possible through generous financial support from LexisNexis.
